In The Saint John’s Bible, on the second page showing Leviticus 19, there is a little bird in the margin. It has a rope in its talons running down the side of the text and at the bottom it is attached to a box of text. The bird’s beak points to the place above where the text should be inserted. This is one of my favorite things about this work of art. It is holy and yet, it is human like we are.

So here it is: Choose life, not stress. Choose God first and not the body, and stress will fall away, and the body will still be OK. Learn something about God by heart and make space for your soul to breathe. This is intentional evolution beyond the biology of fight and flight. This is the express train to the Promise Land and it is what I hope for our children and our children’s children. It is what we can pass onto them, if we possess it ourselves.

Our family; myself, my husband, and our 3 year old daughter, have welcomed a new baby boy into our midst. Myles is his name and he likes to smile, bringing upon himself obvious nicknames.

…the heart of God; that is the glorious possibility that Israel can embody. This Advent we have considered what it means to step away from ways of living small, and to boldly choose to live large. In this passage, Israel is offered a picture of what it means to live large.

This is the feast of Epiphany. It is our Eponymous feast, or namesake feast, that we celebrate every year. But this year’s feast has increased significance as it marks the end of our 100 year building campaign. In truth Epiphany is a bit older than 100 years. She was founded in 1907. The Chapel was built in 1911. A timeline will be set at the back of the church after the service and I encourage you to take a look at it, and write on it. We have been handed a gem, a gift and tonight is the perfect night to celebrate what we have and what we are passing on.
