Alternative title: is Doyt crazy after all? Many of us have heard Doyt argue (persuasively and emphatically) that Lazarus was the Beloved Disciple in the Gospel According to John and the author of that gospel. Many of us have wondered why we haven’t heard this theory elsewhere. It turns out that Doyt is not alone; for over 100 years some scholars have espoused this theory and in recent years it has gained a lot of traction. In this forum, Ben Logan reviews some of the highlights of that scholarly research and explores why any of this matters.
