New to Epiphany

Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you have a place at Epiphany

I am glad you found your way to Epiphany. However you came, with whatever hopes or life experience or beliefs you have, whomever you love, know that you belong here. There is a place for you at Epiphany. How do I know that? Because I know you are made by God and are loved by God. I know you are a spiritual being having a human experience, and I am convinced that God put Epiphany in your path providentially.

At Epiphany we practice a way of being set forth by Jesus. In addition to weekly Sunday and special worship services, we offer exquisite musical performances, challenging classes and conversations, and dozens of opportunities to serve and engage and support one another. We draw upon the great minds and hearts in our midst and welcome visiting artists, teachers, theologians, historians, community leaders, spiritual masters and practitioners to share their insights and their gifts through our many events.

May your time at Epiphany, for however long that time is, be a blessing upon your soul.

What to expect

Services are approximately 1 hour in length.

Children are ALWAYS welcome at Epiphany. We offer a children’s sermon during the Liturgy of the Word at 8:45 and 11:00 am, as well as Sunday school at 10:00 each Sunday from September through May. Parents are always welcome to join their children in the children’s activities, or choose to take advantage of our nursery, available during both services.

Please check children’s webpage for updates on children’s worship and Sunday school.

Epiphany has two small parking lots, and there is ample free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.
The Metro Bus #2 also stops directly across the street on Madrona Boulevard, though you will want to check bus schedules for changes during the pandemic.

You may wear whatever you feel comfortable in to worship at Epiphany. Some worshipers dress up for church, some wear jeans and a t-shirt. It really doesn’t matter. What matters is that you feel comfortable.

You do not need to be an Episcopalian to attend Epiphany. We welcome everyone regardless of their beliefs. Our hope is that you leave our services enriched and refreshed.

Anyone!  If you are who you are, which is created by God as a child of God, then you are welcome to receive the bread and wine at Epiphany.  The technical, theological term is Open Table, meaning all people regardless of religious background are welcome to receive communion. Gluten free wafers are available. If you are not comfortable receiving communion, you can also come forward for a blessing.

Name it and claim it. If this is your spiritual home, where you come to praise God and practice your spiritual life, then you are a member. What this means for most people is that you attend worship regularly, contribute financially by way of a yearly pledge, and get involved in our common life. Our Parish Life Minster, Amanda Eap, can help you figure out what exactly this looks like for you. Contact her at amanda@epiphanyseattle.org.

Services are very similar to what you grew up with except we have women priests and married priests. Another difference is that all people are welcome to receive communion. You will see some people genuflecting and/or crossing themselves during the service, and some not. We do have confession, but it is not required to take communion. Standard days for confession are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, but other times can be scheduled with a priest if you like.  Please do what you are comfortable with. Our church governance is a little different, and we encourage you to take a class to find out more about the Anglican/ Episcopal history and polity.

Yes! You are welcomed here, because we know that God made you, and God made you very well, just the way you are; and if you are good enough for God, you are certainly good enough for Epiphany! Come give us a try.
