The Reverend Nan Waldie

Nan was born and raised in Denver; she moved here in the early eighties.
Raised in an Irish Catholic family and educated in Catholic Schools, she has always had a
love of theology. After attending several universities, she completed her undergraduate
studies at St, Thomas Seminary in Denver and then went on to study Theology at Seattle
University.
While a student at Seattle U. Nan began her career as a hospital chaplain. She worked in
the First Hill hospitals for the Catholic Archdiocese for many years before joining the
Episcopal Church.
She was ordained in 2009. Prior to that, she served at Christ Church in the University
district and served through her diaconate at St. Mark’s Cathedral. Following ordination, she
served in her home parish, Emmanuel on Mercer Island, and was the Vicor at Church of
Our Saviour in Monroe.
In addition to parish ministry, Nan continued work in hospitals, most recently at Overlake
Hospital. She retired in 2024.
Nan and her husband Ian have been married 48 years, have two children, both living in
Seattle, and four grandchildren.
