WOMEN’S RETREAT GROUP: JUNE 12TH 2024 MEET & TAG ON WRAP UP NOTES

Picture5

Many thanks for attending the June 12th Meet & Tag On.

It was a glorious Seattle evening, yet a group of 46 gathered in the church on the balcony, eager to learn more about the Sander Windows, spend time together in spiritual formation, and enjoy one another despite the unusually balmy weather outside.

Steve Sander described the remarkable family history that led to the creation of the windows, and Father Doyt spoke about the Christian art and symbolism illuminated in them.

Details you asked for…

  1. Stever referred to the book Until We Meet Again, An American Woman and Her Family in Civil War China.  Although it is out of print, Steve is willing to loan it out; please contact him directly.

 2) As Father Doyt spoke to the imagery and symbolism in the windows, a handful of people referred to the History of Epiphany by Bobbie Spaeth. There are copies of this book to check out from the Epiphany Library.  Please reach out to Amanda for more details.

3) The company where the Sander Window was built is the Jacoby Art Glass Company in St. Louis.  It is the only company west of the Mississippi that could produce this kind of symbolic glasswork.  Here is a link to the website with the “silent movie” YouTube

4) Epiphany staff recorded the event, and YouTube is HERE.

Finally, the event concluded in the Chapel with delicious appetizers and beverages provided by Women’s Retreat Group members Ann Beck, Dale Barback, Leslie Ann Hay, and Wendy Hoss.
