For the first time since the pandemic waned, a good crowd filled the Great Hall at Have a Heart this past Sunday evening. The room was lovely, thanks to Alice Foreman’s flower art and charming decor, and the little lights Gieth hung for us. There was a ton of great food, and I was very pleased to see that the beverage table included Georgetown Brewing’s Lucile IPA. I had two.
To date, Business Manager Pam reports that 130 people have given $86,847. We are very happy to see such an encouraging number so soon after the event. But the number we really hope to see grow is the number of parishioners participating in Have a Heart. Those 130 donors who have given so far represent only about 40% of Epiphany’s member households. I’ll quote long-ago Epiphany churchwoman Beth Mason when she urged the “Ladies of Epiphany” to give to the 1967 United Thank Offering:
The goal of the United Thank Offering has always been 100% participation—(the amount is not of consequence). Let us endeavor to meet our goal this year, as we remember through prayerful giving we can respond to our Lord’s command to “go into all the world.”
My sentiments exactly. What you give is not of consequence. Only that you give. Please consider taking part in Epiphany’s annual effort to raise financial resources for our nonprofit friends. They are doing important and life-giving work. Your gift signals that your heart is in this work, too. I hope you will view the Have a Heart Program Video, which highlights four organizations operating in some of the most troubled areas of the world.
You can make a gift online or send a check payable to Epiphany Parish (Memo: Have a Heart) to the church office: Epiphany Parish, 1805 38th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122. We are very grateful.
