Dear Friends, June 6, 2023
We had a lively discussion on Saturday. Forward Day by Day designated the day in memory of the Martyrs of Uganda which led into a reflection and question, how would we react in the situation where our faith is being drastically tested? The readings for today continued to keep that discussion in our minds.
The theme for today was recognizing that we are loved by God….always and forever. Our “job” is to live our lives as he has shown us. However, we often fall into despair, go down negative rabbit holes, and forget that message. We are reminded that we are to love Him with all our heart and love others as ourselves…. These things require us to act not just talk.
We looked at the differences in the Old and New Testaments regarding rules. We looked at Old Testament rules and the Ten Commandments …. these are a way for us to have a foundation…a place to refer to and to provide a framework but we must not get caught up so much in the rules that we forget the message. We walk by faith. We talked about how fear is playing such a large part in our diversity in these troubled times. We reminded you can rely on God’s consistent love to help us overcome those fears and reach out.
We were honored to have Megan Hutcheson as our guest. She filled us in on the inner workings of our church…. buildings and grounds. She is a key player in making sure our physical plant is taken care of in a timely manner. Most of us were unaware of how much goes on in the basements/attics/odd spaces in our church. She has worked hard on preservation tasks (windows), lighting issues, technology updates, video processes…the list goes on and on. With Megan in charge, we are in wonderful hands!!
