Dr. Wyatt D. Smith joined Epiphany as an organ scholar in 2017.
Wyatt is a native of Rapid City, South Dakota. He serves at Epiphany Seattle as the Associate Director of Music and as Director of the Epiphany Music Academy. As the Associate Director of Music, he assists in the operations of Epiphany’s music program, accompanying choirs, playing services, and conducting, in addition to overseeing the Music Guild’s Community Concert Series. In 2019, Wyatt founded the Epiphany Music Academy, which provides a place for all people, no matter age, ability, or ambition, to study music on our campus, He serves both as Academy Director, handling admin needs, advertising, and recruitment, and Instructor of Organ and Harpsichord. When not at Epiphany, Wyatt enjoys traveling and photography.
Music runs through his veins, having started learning piano at the age of seven and organ from the age of ten. Wyatt went on to graduate with degrees in organ performance from the University of Washington (DMA, 2019), the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and the Yale School of Music (MMus, 2015), and the University of South Dakota in Vermillion (BMus, 2013).
Outside of Epiphany, Wyatt is the Affiliate Artist in Organ & Harpsichord at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma where he teaches applied lessons and performs an annual solo concert series. Wyatt concertizes extensively, keeping an active concert schedule. Since 2010, he has performed over 200 solo recitals in twenty-eight states throughout the US, England, France, and Germany. Several of his performances have been heard on episodes of American Public Media’s Pipedreams.
