WOMEN’S RETREAT GROUP: October 23 MEETING NOTES

May 6 Wrap Up Notes

Dear Women of Epiphany,

We had another one of our extra sessions of the WRG when several of us met to discuss the book, Enduring Grace by Carol Lee Flinders. This
discussion was led by Margie Einstein and Karen Forbes. We discussed the author and her history and the life of Teresa of Avila, a Christian mystic and saint.

Teresa had an interesting history, living 1515-1587 in Spain during the Inquistion. Her history led her to becoming a nun. She had two serious
illnesses which changed her; and two conversions to give her life over to Jesus Christ. She founded and opened seventeen convents that taught
inner prayer, a deep inner conversation with God. This inner prayer was not sanctioned by the Church or the Inquisition. She wrote several books in the common language spreading her words to many.

Our discussion centered on how her life and work has an influence on our lives. It was a meaningful time of reflection about how we are asking some of the same questions several centuries later. Several books and references came up for discussion and are included here for your interest.
