Dear Epiphany Family,
I am excited to join you as the Associate Rector of Epiphany. I have had the privilege of serving as your seminary intern over the last two years. I could not be more excited to be joining the staff full-time.
As Associate Rector, I will lead Christian Education and Spiritual Formation for children, youth and adults. I am in the process of putting teams together who will work with our children and youth, so please reach out to me if you are interested in participating in this ministry.
I would like to introduce myself and tell you a little about my background. I live in Snoqualmie with my wife and three of our four kids. Our oldest daughter is 23 and just moved home from college and has started to work as a preschool teacher in Issaquah.
Our oldest son is 22 and is a junior at Harvard College. He is studying economics and wants to be an investment banker. Our youngest son is almost 18 and is a senior at Mount Si High School. He is signed to play football at the University of Oklahoma next year on the Offensive Line. He is 6’7” and 310 lbs with bright red hair. If you see him at church, you will know he is mine. Our youngest is 16 and a sophomore at Mount Si High School. She is in the process of deciding where she wants to go to college and currently is interested in studying real estate development.
I will be graduating seminary with my Masters of Divinity the second week of May. I am in the ordination process and am currently a Postulant for Holy Orders in our diocese. For the past five years, I have been an Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California. I teach in the Masters of Healthcare Administration program. Prior to teaching, I worked in healthcare serving in various executive roles including Chief Strategy Officer, General Counsel, and President. I am a lawyer and have an MBA from Yale and my doctorate in public health from UNC Chapel Hill.
Most importantly, I love Jesus and am passionate about serving in His Church. I grew up in the church. Many of my early memories are being in the church early on a Saturday morning when my mom was setting up for Sunday School or cooking the meal for an event. I was at church every time it opened. More likely than not, my mom was the one who unlocked the doors. My mother’s love for God and the church had a huge influence on me. I was lucky to have a really strong children’s formation and a terrific youth group. I remain friends with the people from my youth group. They are all still serving God these many decades later. I am passionate about prayer and the idea that we can know God in our daily lives.
It is my great joy to join a learning church like Epiphany and to continue to develop our theological depth. I am looking forward to all of the ways that we can explore the richness of God together. Thank you for the warm welcome that I have received. I can’t wait to partner with you on this journey.
