Christmastide at Epiphany

Christmas Eve is just around the corner, and I wanted to reach out with a brief update about what’s happening here on campus.

We begin at 4:00 PM with our Christmas Pageant — a heart-warming celebration filled with music, joy, and the retelling of the Nativity story. It is truly a communal gathering where children, youth, and adults of every age step into the story itself. We become the choir, the shepherds, the wise ones, even the sheep and the stars. We become the story. And it’s going to be a lot of fun.

At 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM, we celebrate Festival Eucharists — beautifully crafted liturgies filled with hymns, Scripture, and a sermon inviting us into the grandeur of Jesus’ birth. Before each service, there will be a musical interlude to help you sink into the beauty of the season, beginning at 5:40 and 8:40 respectively.

Then, at 11:00 PM, we hold our Midnight Mass — a candlelit Eucharist with incense that draws us into mystery and transcendence. There is a silence at the heart of this night that is almost palpable, and this sacred service allows us to enter it with reverence and awe.

And the celebration continues on Christmas morning at 9:00 AM with Holy Eucharist — a joyful way to begin the day remembering that Jesus is God’s gift to the world and to each one of us.

Christmas at Epiphany is, at its core, the community coming together. For all of us who think of Epiphany as our spiritual gym — the place where we practice week after week — these Christmas services are an opportunity to show kindness, extend hospitality, and welcome the newcomer and the neighbor. It’s a moment to remind ourselves, and those around us, who we are as followers of Jesus.

If Jesus isn’t good news for everyone, he isn’t good news for anyone.

I’m excited for Christmas Eve, and I’m excited to see you here. I hope this Advent has been a blessing to you.

Peace upon your souls.
