On November 7, Epiphany volunteers served lunch at Angeline’s Day Center in Belltown. Angeline’s serves women experiencing homelessness with drop-in services including breakfast and lunch, access to bathrooms, showers, and laundry facilities, personal storage lockers, group activities and workshops, health care access, and referrals to community services. We arrived at 11:45 am for orientation and then served lunch (which had been prepared in advance) to the women. After lunch, we cleaned and sanitized the tables and were done by 2:00 pm.
We enjoyed meeting the women we were serving and we learned a lot about Angeline’s and how food is procured, cooked and served there. It is amazing how much they do with what little resources they have.
Epiphany will now do this lunch service regularly; every third Thursday of the month beginning in January. We can have a maximum of 6 volunteers. Please join us for any or all of these service days. To sign up or ask any questions please email me at speterson@perkinscoie.com .
