Adult Formation: Sunday Forums in September

Sunday Forums are back in the Fall! Mark your calendars for these deep-dives into what it means to be a member of The Episcopal Church, from local parish to regional diocese to the Anglican Communion and the universal Body of Christ.

Forum on The Diocese of Olympia
Sunday, September 14
10:00 – 11:00 am | Great Hall & Zoom

Come learn about your Diocese! The Diocese of Olympia. The Rev. Cristi Chapman, Canon to the Ordinary will join us to talk about her role in the diocese, facts about our diocese, how our diocese supports the work of our 100+ churches, and how Epiphany supports the diocese.

As the Canon to the Ordinary, Cristi serves as the chief advisor to the Bishop; is the lead resource for clergy and congregations in transition; advises clergy, congregations, and Governing Bodies on a variety of matters; and serves as Chief of Staff for the Office of the Bishop.

Forum on Exploring Anglican Identity
Sunday, September 21 & 28
10:00 – 11:00 am | Great Hall & Zoom

The Episcopal Church’s rich heritage brings both gifts and challenges. Rooted in English culture yet ever-adapting, our tradition has shaped lives for centuries, while also causing harm through colonialism and exclusion. In this two-part forum, the Rev. Kate Wesch will lead us as we explore:

  • What’s life-giving about our Anglican identity?
  • How can Epiphany better welcome and include all?
  • Which parts of our heritage serve the Good News today?

Drawing on voices like Paul Avis, John Westerhoff, and Alan Bartlett, we’ll consider how Anglicanism holds together the catholic and the reformed, being traditional and yet, open to fresh insight. Whether you’re a lifelong Episcopalian or just curious, bring your questions, hopes, and honest wrestling. Together, let’s discern how God is calling us to be church in this time and place.
